Learning A New Language

Do You Need to Learn a New Language?

When you’re a single parent you often have to deal with your ex. Many times these conversations don’t go so well even if your intensions are good. Sometimes it’s because your ex truly is a psycho and no one can have a normal conversation with him/her. But many times the cause of these miscommunications is a lack of the right language. You can’t do anything about your ex and their communication style, but you can make your life less stressful by learning a new language. The first thing you need to realize is that you cannot talk to an ex the same way you’ve always talked to him/her; it just won’t work. Having been married to this person and having children together makes for a language style that is full of emotion. No matter how much your ex may have hurt you, the best thing you can do for yourself and your kids is to remove the emotion from your conversations and start treating your ex more like a business associate. Your ex need not be informed of your newly acquired language skills for this to start working to everyone’s benefit. Soon they will realize that you now have on a teflon business suit. The all access pass to your emotional buttons has now been revoked. And getting on with the business of raising well adjusted kids is your goal.

As long as you make sure you stick to your guns and deny your ex access to your emotions, they will start changing their language style also. If you start to implement this new language style now, the remainder of this holiday season will go smoother and be less stressful. And your kids will thank you for it.
