All Kinds of Ways to Make Money Online

The More Traditional Ways

As I look around I’m finding so many different approaches to making money online.  There are the traditional approaches such as set up an online store and sell something.  Even that has more than one flavor.  Are you making things to sell?  Are you opening an EBay shop?  Are you reselling from a wholesaler?

Sell Your Expertise Through E-Books or Cd’s

Another approach is to sell your expertise in the form of an e-book or Cd?  If this is what you have in mind then your web site will look vastly different than an online shop.  There is a huge focus on convincing your target market that 1. You are an expert; and 2. They absolutely need what you can provide for them.  If you’ve ever been to a web site that is trying to sell you an e-book you know what I mean.  You are reading and reading forever before you finally get to the bottom and find out that you need to buy the e-book or Cd to get the information you just invested 20 minutes becoming convinced you need.  This is very much like a TV infomercial.

Blogging as a Business

Then there is the, use your blog to earn money approach.  I am learning that this approach has so many different flavors and levels that it is mind boggling.  If you have decided that you want to start a blog and earn money from it and you are new to blogging, the shear volume of information that’s out there can be disorienting.  I jumped in after having taught myself the basics of html and css.  Because I’m a single parent with limited time, learning html and css took about a year, but once I understood it, it opened up many more possibilities for me.  I also have a design background so the thought of being able to customize sites was very appealing to me.  But you don’t need to know how to write code to start a blog.  There are programs out there that do all of that for you.

It’s Like Being in the Big City Without a Map

There are all kinds of tips, tricks and techniques to optimize your blog once you get it going, but I keep reading over and over that step one to the blogging as a business approach is a clean looking, easy to get around blog with good content that is updated regularly.  If you start venturing out into too many sites that offer money making tips and tricks, you can get very lost and confused.  With all of the ‘opportunities’ out there to make your blog a better money earner, your brain will freeze from information overload.
