Your Future in a Box

The time is now to plan for your future.  If you write down the goals you want to achieve, you are more liking to actually achieve them.  Have a destination for yourself in mind but don’t be too focused on the end result.  Enjoy the process of achieving your goals.

So instead of writing out a stale business plan or mission statement that you will most likely file away and rarely look at, you want to create something that will motivate you to move towards your goals and will grow with you.  It’s time to put Your Future in a Box.  More specifically, find a cool box, accordion folder, or notebook to house your future.  You want it to be something that you can leave in a prominent place that is nice to look at because you will look at it often.

What should you put in Your Future in a Box container?  The choice is yours really, but here are some things to start with.

1.  Your Ideal Vision for Your  Life.

Your ideal vision of how you want to live and conduct your business.  Include how you want to parent your children.

2.  Your Gifts and Talents.

Brainstorm and come up with a list of all of the things you are good at, and make it extensive.  From your educational experience to being an ace gift wrapper, or bike fixer (if that’s what your thing is).

3.  Your Business Information.

If you have started a business, have a section where you can put your business’s description.  Also put your financial overview in here and any other things relating to running your business.

4.  Personal Growth.

Have a personal development section where you can put lists of books you want to read or classes you want to take.

5.  Inspiration.

Let there be one section where you can gather anything that inspires you.  You may fill it with quotes, inspiring pictures, or whatever you can think of for inspiration.

6.  Long and Short Term Goals.

Now that you have all of this information and inspiration in one place, list your short and long term goals and keep those in a section up front.

What to Do With Your Future in a Box

Schedule some time at least once a month, to go through Your Future in a Box.  Add to it, tweak it, and reset your short and long terms goals.  As you spend time with it and let Your Future in a Box evolve, it will guide you and inspire you to reach your goals.
